Rachel Johnson snaps at Christine Lampard during awkward Loose Women stint: ‘I’m not here to talk about Boris’

Sorry, this video isn't available any more.

Rachel Johnson snapped during her stint on Loose Women earlier today, insisting she wasn’t on the show to discuss brother Boris Johnson’s antics.

The 54-year-old made an appearance on the ITV series to discuss her new book, My Political Midlife Crisis, when talk turned to the Prime Minister – amid the coronavirus crisis.

However, instead of wanting to discuss her family life any further, she made a point of abruptly changing the topic to her memoir.

Snapping at Christine Lampard, she asked: ‘Have you got my book? I gave two copies to the showrunner. Where is it?

‘I’m not here to talk about Boris.’

Earlier in the segment, Rachel was full of praise for how her brother was handling the current outbreak, insisting she ‘supports’ him completely.

‘I do support him, I think he’s doing an incredible job,’ she said.

‘It’s hard to see somebody carrying such a weight of responsibility but he is strong.

‘It’s really hard up there to know they’re doing the right decisions… this could crash the economy.

‘These are really, really dark times.’

Rachel also rushed to defend dad Stanley Johnson, after he appeared on This Morning earlier this week, telling Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield that coronavirus wouldn’t stop him from enjoying a drink in the pub.

Claiming he was ‘unfairly judged’, she interrupted Stacey Solomon, who explained: ’People are looking towards somebody like you…’

‘…To be cross with,’ she interjected. ‘Like when my dad said he was going to go to the pub, which maybe was a stupid thing to say, but I didn’t think he did it to be provocative.

‘He just said, you know, I think he was probably thinking about the hospitality trade, which a million people have already lost their jobs.’

Following the outbreak, schools are set to close, with cities around the country preparing to go into lockdown.

With the death toll in the UK rising to 137, it is feared as many as half a million people around the world could die from the infection.

Loose Women continues on weekdays, at 12.30pm, on ITV.

ITV bosses are reportedly stopping any celebrity guests from appearing on Loose Women because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Earlier this week Loose Women went ahead as usual but they had to ban a live studio audience due to the pandemic

And now reports suggest that producers have had to go one step further by stopping any other celebrity guests from coming into contact with the panellists.

The hour-long chat show would normally see at least two celeb guests on each episode, although bosses are ‘scaling back’ on how many people enter the studio.

‘ITV’s main priority is to make sure everyone stays safe during this very difficult time so they have been reducing crew on and off-screen across the week,’ a source began.

‘Show bosses are being forced to think of new and improved ways to deliver the show without putting anyone at unnecessary risk – and that includes minimising the number of people together at any one time,’ the source continued to The Sun.

The news follows after Loose Women panellist Gloria Hunniford decided to present the show from home earlier this week as she appeared to be self-isolating.

The UK has currently gone into lockdown following the outbreak of Covid-19.

The number of confirmed cases of the virus and deaths are continuing to rise in the UK, with many people now choosing to self-isolate and maintain social distancing to try and tackle the pandemic.

Other shows that have banned a studio audience are The Jeremy Vine Show and Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

Metro.co.uk has reached out to ITV for comment.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.

ITV has cancelled live shows Lorraine and Loose Women in a bid to decrease the number of staff coming in and out of its studios at one time amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Despite this, Good Morning Britain has been extended by an hour, increasing its run time from three to four hours each morning, with Lorraine Kelly joining the programme for its final 60 minutes.

In addition, This Morning with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield will run as normal.

A statement from ITV read: ‘ITV Daytime has taken the decision to stop broadcasting Lorraine and Loose Women live from Monday 23rd March. This decision has been made to minimise the number of staff travelling in and out of our studios and working together on shift at any one time.

‘We’re focusing our efforts on providing to viewers the latest news on the rapidly changing situation which aims to offer some stability and continuity in all our lives whilst so many of us are at home right now.

‘That’s why we have taken this tough decision to protect our GMB News programme in the morning and keep This Morning on air for as long as possible.’

Lorraine Kelly

The statement continued: ‘From Monday we will be running an extended version of Good Morning Britain from 0600 until 10am. At 9am Lorraine Kelly will join Piers in the GMB studio for the last hour and then hand straight over to the This Morning studio with Phillip and Holly as usual running from 10am until 1230pm.

‘We will then run some of our most favourite repeat episodes of Loose Women from 12.30pm to 1.30pm to give viewers something to smile about each day at lunchtime.

‘We have been reducing our crew numbers over the last week and these changes will enable us to reduce them further and help us build further resilience with the aim of Daytime content continuing to air for as long as possible.’

It added: ‘Safeguarding the well-being of everyone involved with our programmes is our priority and in this dynamically developing situation we will obviously continue to review these new arrangements on a day by day basis and follow at all times the latest PHE and WHO guidelines.’

Another 48 people have died with coronavirus in the UK, taking the death toll to 281.

Earlier today, Wales recorded a further seven new deaths, with the previous figure standing at 240.

Scotland later reported an additional three deaths. It comes as 5,683 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the UK. Confirmed case numbers rose by 665 in a day.

Antiques Roadshow has postponed filming on its current series as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The popular BBC show was due to film scenes for upcoming episodes in several locations across the UK in the summer months, but has now put these filming days on hold.

However, producers hope to be able to resume filming by the end of July, but they will continue to monitor the ever-changing situation.

In a statement shared to the official Antiques Roadshow Twitter account, they wrote: ‘The safety of our staff and our audiences is something we take very seriously.

‘In light of the Government’s recent advice on Covid-19 and in consultation with our venue partners, Antiques Roadshow has decided to postpone filming days at Forty Hall (17 May), Windermere Jetty Museum (9 June), Stonor Park (23 June), Bodnant Garden (30 June) and Culzean Castle (12 July).’

They added: ‘At this point, we plan to go ahead with filming at Christchurch Mansion (26 July), Newby Hall (31 July) and Coventry Cathedral (8 September), but as this is a rapidly evolving situation we will review on an ongoing basis.’

Antique Roadshow is just the latest show to have been postponed or cancelled in light of the coronavirus outbreak.

Other BBC shows that also followed suit include EastEnders, which has shut down production and has reduced the number of episodes broadcast each week from four to two.

Medical dramas Casualty, Holby City and Doctors have also ceased production.

Meanwhile, ITV has also cancelled live shows Lorraine and Loose Women, in order to limit the amount of staff members coming into and out of its studios at one time.

Despite this, the channel has extended its morning programme Good Morning Britain for an hour. This Morning, hosted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, will continue to run as normal.

At the time of writing, the UK coronavirus death toll nears 300 after 5,683 have tested positive.

Antiques Roadshow continues on Sunday at 8pm on BBC One.

Why isn’t Loose Women on today?

ITV announced Loose Women wouldn’t be returning from today (23 Mar) in a bid to combat the coronavirus pandemic in a shake up to the regular ITV schedule.

The decision was made after the show initially pulled the live audiences in order to maintain its regular programming.

When is Loose Women back on TV?

Reruns of Loose Women will air in the normal live TV slot from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.

It is not yet known when it will be possible for the show to return to air as normal.

What has changed on the ITV schedule?

For the time being, ITV has axed Loose Women, and absorbed Lorraine into the final hour of Good Morning Britain.

Good Morning Britain will run from 6am to 10am, with Lorraine joining Piers Morgan in the studio for the final hour.

This Morning will continue as planned, running from 10am to 12.30pm.

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield impersonator goes viral: A must see during coronavirus lockdown

YouTube sensation Chi is keeping us all entertained while in coronavirus quarantine with her latest satirical video on morning television.

If four hours of Piers Morgan wasn’t keeping you going through the early hours of the day, the young star has given her take on ITV’s breakfast shows, and it’s amazing.

Doing her best impressions of Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, the 19-year-old took on This Morning’s best bits and launched into a laughing fit while dressed up as the hosts – she’d done some nifty editing so she could be both Phil and Holly at the same time.

Wincing into the camera, in true Holly fashion, Chi grabbed hold of her belly, as she told her Phillip Schofield self: ‘Stop it! Stop it!’

Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes were Chi’s next victims, and she got them spot on.

‘Ruth’s getting old but she’s certainly not getting any younger,’ the faux Eamonn quipped down the camera while his wife (who was Chi in a blonde wig) snapped, ‘stop it,’ while raising her fist.

And if you thought it couldn’t get any more hilarious, the internet star served up all the sass as she took on Rylan Clark-Neal.

Making up a fake news story for her sketch and Kylie Jenner selling on the Kardashian’s favourite cow for some magic beans, she said in her best Essex accent: ‘I can’t believe it, babes, I still can’t believe it.’

The 10-minute clip then cut to Gino D’Acampo in the kitchen talking about his grandmother; a short second was spared for Lorraine Kelly interviewing, Lorraine Kelly, before the Loose Women panellists became the next target.

And when we thought Piers Morgan had made a lucky escape, Good Morning Britain closed off Chi’s video seeing the star dressed as Susanna Reid attacking Piers behind their newsdesk.

Even Rylan made an appearance (Picture: Chi With A C)

The clip seemed to go down a treat with the celebs, and even got a mention on the real This Morning.

Phil said: ‘We couldn’t not share this today, we like to have a laugh at ourselves.’

Holly squirmed: ‘Mainly me,’ before her co-host added: ‘YouTube star Chi with A C has posted her very own version of some daytime TV shows, and one of those is us.’

Rylan called the upload ‘brilliant,’ as Ruth laughed joked it was ‘too close for comfort.’

Denise Welch even got in on the comments, adding: ‘Possibly the best thing I’ve seen in my new life!!’ as her fellow Loose Women panellist Nadia Sawalha said: ‘Heh you! Blooming well done! You have really grated hard to make these brilliantly funny films! Thank you.’

Good Morning Britain airs at 6am on ITV and is followed by Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women at 12.30pm.

Nadia Sawalha took the current lockdown bread making craze to another level by taking humorous ‘drastic measures’ in the kitchen.

The Loose Women presenter posted a playful snap of herself taking a rolling pin to her stomach after being unable to find a loaf of bread in the shops while continuing to deal with life in quarantine amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Nadia, 55, looked gleeful in the photo, which saw her tummy resting on a chopping board and covered in flour, her top tied up underneath her chest.

Along with the picture on Instagram, she quipped: ‘Spent all day trying to get a loaf of bread and a loo roll … geez have had to take drastic measures … but I’m happy !’

She added several hashtags, including #BAKEYOUROWN, #lockdownlife, #quarantinelife, #dough, #bodyacceptance and #homemadebread.

Celebrity friends and fans of the star were in stitches at her good-humoured new take on baking, with Rochelle Humes writing: ‘I LOVE youuuuu.’

MasterChef host John Torode told her that she is ‘hilarious’.

On the photo, Nadia pointed out that it was ‘day 15 of lockdown’.

She has been at home or the past few weeks since ITV announced that production Loose Women would be suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak until further notice, with reruns of old episodes filling the timeslot.

Earlier this week Nadia was included in a throwback photo on Twitter from Kaye Adams, who reminisced as she shared a picture of some of her co-stars and members of the Loose Women team.

Kaye said that she was ‘missing my @loosewomen buddies’, to which Nadia replied: ‘Awwwwww.’

Nadia also told of how much she is enjoying the Loose Women WhatsApp group in these troubling times.

She took to Instagram to share a meme that said: ‘Is it too late to change who you’re quarantined with? Asking for a friend.’

She wrote: ‘Thank you @ruthlangsford this made me laugh out loud !!

‘What would I do without the loose women whatsap group.

‘So wish we were still on air sharing all this with our bloody brilliant @loosewomen AUDIENCE !!’

Stacey Solomon is total mood as she lip-syncs to Hear’Say in epic TikTok video

Stacey Solomon was a whole mood as she lipsynched along to Hear’Say while whipping partner Joe Swash with daffodils in a Tik Tok video.

Because what else can you do while in quarantine?

The Loose Women presenter had some time on her hands as her two older sons, 11-year-old Zachary and seven-year-old Leighton, were at their father’s homes, while her youngest son, 11-month-old Rex, was fast asleep in bed.

So she decided to up her TikTok game, like a lot of celebs are doing at the moment.

In the TikTok video, which she later shared to her Instagram story, Stacey could be seen lip-syncing along to the Hear’Say classic Pure And Simple as Joe appears beside her, while she continues to wind him up.

‘When the big pickles are at their dads and the little pickle goes to bed, Hoe gets my undivided attention and he’s delighted about it,’ she cheekily captioned the video.

Later, we then see her playing around with pots and pans, before later hitting Joe with a daffodil – much to his annoyance, as he was busy trying to cook.

Joe later got his partner back by soaking her with water from a watering can, before she pounced up onto his back.

As they return to the house, Stacey couldn’t resist following the Dancing On Ice winner to the toilet – only for him to then turn around and say: ‘Go away Stace.’

Oops.

‘I pushed my luck,’ she then wrote, before adding: ‘Happy Friday. Hope you’re all okay. Love u (sic).’

It can be well argued that Stacey has a very colourful social media presence – especially on Instagram.

She is known to film pretty much everything, from her son drawing a caterpillar that looks somewhat like a penis, to baby Rex having an explosive poo all over her carpet.

Last year, she even documented Rex weeing all over her sister as she changed his nappy while out for lunch.

Well, we look forward to witnessing even more Instagram posts and TikTok clips from her in the future.

Loose Women is returning tomorrow for a special one-off programme celebrating the heroes of the National Health Service for ITV’s NHS day.

The ITV daytime favourite has been off-air during the coronavirus lockdown after spending a week filming without a studio audience.

Instead, the 12.30pm slot has been filled with Loose Women repeats but for one day only, Christine Lampard, Brenda Edwards, Stacey Solomon, and Nadia Sawalha will be filming from their respective homes.

ITV will be celebrating all those serving on the front line during the coronavirus pandemic tomorrow, kicking off with Good Morning Britain at 6am, moving on This Morning with Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes at 10am and the Loose Women’s comeback follows at 12.30pm.

Emma Gormley, Managing Director, ITV Daytime explained: ‘Like everyone else in the country we want to say a massive thank you to our NHS heroes.

‘We look forward to a day of extra special programmes in celebration and gratitude for our amazing NHS staff and all they continue to do for us.’

Clare Phillips Director of Social Purpose at ITV added: ‘This appeal is a vital way of helping people who work for the NHS when they need it the most. We’re delighted to partner with NHS Charities Together and put ITV’s full weight behind a campaign that will give back to the heroic NHS staff.

‘I’m incredibly proud that we’ve been able to put this together and play our part in helping the NHS in this difficult time’

ITV has teamed up with NHS Charities Together #OneMillionClaps and will be urging viewers to donate to the NHS and pass along messages of support.

The NHS Charities Together Million Claps Appeal is asking anyone who can afford it to make a £5 donation, alongside a personalised message to NHS staff in their postcode area, simply by texting CLAP to 70507.

Loose Women airs tomorrow at 12.30pm on ITV.

Stacey Solomon forced to take over Loose Women as Christine Lampard breaks down in tears discussing friend on NHS frontline

Loose Women got emotional today with Christine Lampard breaking down in tears as she praised her friend working on the NHS frontline during the coronavirus pandemic.

The programme returned for the first time in weeks to pay a special tribute to the brave workers putting their lives at risk to save others, and the presenter called upon co-host Stacey Solomon to take over as she cried.

Talking about her childhood friend Rachel Small, Christine began: ‘She’s a nurse in the intensive care unit at a hospital in Dundonald. This is a young girl, the same age as my sister, in her late 30s. She’s a daughter, she’s a wife, she’s a mother of two young boys, and there she is going to work every day.’

Getting more visibly upset, Christine continued: ‘It gets me emotional thinking about it because you think they’re putting their lives at risk all of the time for us and I just get so emotional every time I think about it because I find it so difficult to think they have to worry about their little children and all I have to do is stay inside my house.

‘It puts it all into perspective.’

She then begged Stacey to take over the reins and continue presenting the show as she took a moment to herself.

ITV had cancelled Loose Women, as well as Lorraine, last month in a bid to decrease the number of staff coming in and out of its studios at one time amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Despite this, Good Morning Britain was extended by an hour, increasing its run time from three to four hours each morning, with Lorraine Kelly joining the programme for its final 60 minutes.

A statement from ITV at the time read: ‘ITV Daytime has taken the decision to stop broadcasting Lorraine and Loose Women live from Monday 23rd March.

Another 761 people have died after contracting coronavirus, taking the UK death toll to at least 12,868, the Department of Health (DoH) confirmed on Wednesday.

The jump in deaths is another huge daily increase, following a rise of 778 on Tuesday and 717 on Monday.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.

Nadia Sawalha showed off her new lockdown outfit as she took on the pillow challenge.

The challenge has people posing for the ‘gram wearing absolutely nothing but a pillow and a belt and Nadia killed it.

The 55-year-old was inspired after Halle Berry completed the same challenge and threw in her best model poses.

Sharing the image on Instagram, the Loose Women panellist wrote: ‘Thank god for @halleberry inspiring me to find my inner couture , my inner supermodel , my inner fashion diva.

‘Good god I feel beautiful !! Eat your heart out A listers I’m coming through !!!!! 💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽

‘Pillow available from …… Morrison’s , Primark , Asda’s and Croydon market … WOULD YOU DARE TO TAKE THE PILLOW CHALLENGE????? ‘

She then went on to tag everything under the sun, including #lifeisacaberet and #supermodeloftheyear.

The star donned a white stripy pillow, a brown belt and bright pink heels and it worked oddly well.

Quarantine pillow challenge was created by StyleByNelli, and is a way to make staying inside during the coronavirus lockdown high fashion.

Fans loved Nadia’s new look and Vogue-worthy posing and took to her post to compliment her.

‘See your creative side is coming out now Nads, you will be starting your own winter collection before we know it,’ one fan said.

One commented: ‘Bloody brilliant, now that’s a true role model for young girls. Well done Nadia.’

‘Brilliant, there’s the next cover of Vogue right there 🤣🤣🤣 keep up the hilarious shenanigans,’ another posted.

Nadia Sawalha and the rest of the Loose ladies might not be filming the show at the moment, but they’ve all been keeping in touch amid the coronavirus lockdown.

The panel reunited for a one-off special last week which they recorded from home, and they’re hoping to make it a regular thing in the future.

Nadia told Metro.co.uk: ‘It was quite difficult technically because you’ve got to get four different set ups to the people’s houses and you can’t have a crew or anyone in there because of social distancing.

‘And it all goes live through the ITV centre so it was a big deal, but I think I don’t know whether there will be an ease [later] because it’s the first time, so fingers crossed there will be more.

‘I’m really hoping [it will become a regular show], we’re all waiting to hear and praying.’

She added: ‘I think people need Loose Women at the moment, you know those familiar faces and that feeling of “yeah, we’re going through this too” and that relatability that you get from Loose Women in a way that I don’t think you get from other shows.’

While they’re not doing the show each weekday, Nadia revealed that the ladies have a group chat where they have been sending each other memes to keep spirits up amid the current pandemic.

Nadia revealed: ‘I just got off the phone to Kaye [Adams] actually. I was on the phone to her for an hour.

‘We have a WhatsApp group with all the Loose Women on which goes off every day like ping, ping, ping!

‘It is mostly funny stuff actually. All the best memes I’ve had are from the Loose Women, as you would imagine. Very fun.

‘So we’ve got one now that came in from Jane Moore of the traffic light phases to ease the lockdown.

Nadia Sawalha phoner

‘Red was non-essential shops and hairdressers reopening, and Jane photographed that and sent it in the WhatsApp group and put a little asterisk around hairdressers reopening, like thank god!’

Nadia added that the panel will also be doing a quiz together this week, just like the rest of us in lockdown, so they can spend time hanging out while being in quarantine in their own homes.

Nadia and her family have been spending the lockdown upping their content on their family YouTube channel, The Sawalha-Adderleys,  which has been running long before the pandemic began.

She explained: ‘We’ve had our YouTube channel up and running for the last couple of years now. And we produce such an eclectic mix of content that it’s been great for us because it’s  kept us busy and engaged.

‘It’s been great because we’ve got a lot of new subscribers, obviously because people are looking for an escape from the horrors of it all.

‘We’ve just carried on doing what we’ve been doing but added extra content too, so it has got us through, but it’s also got a lot of other people through [the past few weeks].

‘A lot of people that follow us are people that are on a 12 week lockdown without anybody there, and then we’ve got people that are going and sitting in their downstairs loo because their husband or wife is driving them mad and they need to have a break and they need to have a bit of a giggle.’

The family also have their own reality show series on the channel, and Nadia admits sometimes it gets a bit more ‘warts-and-all’ than she expected.

She explained: ‘It’s totally unfiltered and very anarchic. I’ll occasionally watch it back and be like “Oh my god, I can’t believe we put that in!”, because my husband films it all.’

As the family film it on their mobile phones without a crew, she admits they get a lot more freedom to show their real lives than if it was shown on TV rather than YouTube.

Uploading several times a day is a big ask even for the most seasoned YouTuber, but Nadia revealed she has a secret weapon.

She revealed: ‘We’re so lucky because we used to have a production company and we used to make TV shows, so my husband [Mark] is a really good editor, producer and director. I guess I married the perfect man!’

Loose Women editor Sally Shelford said: ‘At Loose Women we have made it our mission to stop the stigma and start a conversation about mental health, covering issues from postnatal depression to anxiety and addiction. And managing director of daytime at ITV Emma Gormley said: ‘We are thrilled to be able to bring Loose Women back for brand new shows in the studio from Monday. As we continue to respond to the crisis and adapt our shows accordingly we’ve made some temporary adjustments to enable us to get back on air whilst ensuring the safety of all of our teams.

‘We know our viewers have missed their daily lunchtime catch up with the Loose Women and we look forward to hearing from them all on Monday.’

The show – which features panellists such as Janet Street-Porter, Andrea McLean, Stacey Solomon and Nadia Sawalha – previously filmed with a skeleton crew and no audience as Covid-19 began to spread.

And it seems the Loose Women ladies can’t wait to be back on our screens.

Andrea exclaimed: ‘Loose Women has been a part of my life for thirteen years, so to suddenly not be meeting up with my friends, catching up over a latte and hearing the latest about what’s going on in their lives has been really strange.

‘As the whole world will agree – chatting over video call just isn’t the same! I can’t wait to get back to work, get back into the studio and give our lovely viewers some much-needed love and laughter at lunchtime; it’s what we Loose Women do best.’

Coleen went on to comment on how she had missed all their chats.

She said: ‘I’m so excited the show is back in the studio. I’ve really missed our chats and debates. And although we won’t have our lovely live audience there for a little while longer, we promise to still make them smile at home.’

The ITV chat show previously filmed with a skeleton crew and no audience as Covid-19 began to spread.

Other ITV daytime shows including This Morning and Good Morning Britain have gone ahead, although presenters and guests must sit two metres apart to ensure social distancing measures are in place.

Nadia added: ‘We can’t wait to share all that’s been going on with the audience as they have always been the fifth loose woman.

‘We’ve shared everything over the last twenty years, so it’s only right and proper that we share now at one of the most difficult times in recent history. Missed you girls.’

Loose Women will return to ITV at 12.30pm on 4 May.

Loose Women’s Andrea McLean has revealed she suffered a mental breakdown last year.

As the ITV show returned for the first time in six weeks, the presenter opened up about her ordeal which led her to a ‘really dark place’ and explained that if the coronavirus pandemic had taken place at that time, it would have been ‘horrendous’ for her.

Speaking to co-stars Brenda Edwards and Nadia Sawalha, while Coleen Nolan joined from her kitchen at home, Andrea disclosed: ‘If this [pandemic] had happened a year ago I would have been in trouble.

‘Last year, I was in a really dark place. I had a breakdown last year, which is something I haven’t necessarily spoken about, but I did.

‘If it had happened then it would have been horrendous, but I worked on myself so hard and I had so much help and so much support that actually when it happened, we’d already starting calming our life down.’

She continued: ‘I was in a really great place mentally [at the beginning of lockdown], I’d had therapy, so actually I was quite chilled.’

Denise Welch has bravely opened up about her sobriety struggles in lockdown as she admitted ‘it’s been the toughest challenge in eight years’.

Speaking via video link on Loose Women, the panel discussed ‘are you worried about your drinking habits?’ during lockdown.

As she spoke from her kitchen, the 61-year-old began: ‘I’ll be perfectly honest with you, I know it is a subject that I go on about pre-lockdown because of my sobriety and being sober for eight years.

‘But the thing I have found in lockdown, and Lincoln has as well, we have both found this probably our toughest challenge in eight years and believe you me we have had some challenges.

‘At no point have either of us felt like we would pick up a drink.’

Denise went on to explain that she is ‘jealous of the people who can take the edge off’.

She continued: ‘But it is such a stressful time, it is a global pandemic, it is affecting every single person.

‘At the moment I have nothing to take the edge off. It is not about wanting to drink as into getting completely obliterated or pie-eyed, it’s about wanting something to take the edge off.’

The host added to Andrea McLean: ‘Some of the bad days are pretty rough and you would like nothing more than taking the edge off.

‘This is a tough time to be quarantined together. A lot of friends of mine are drinking much earlier and much more.

‘I understand it but it is something we need to address.’

It comes after Andrea opened up about her ordeal which led her to a ‘really dark place’.

During Monday’s Loose Women the presenter explained that if the coronavirus pandemic had taken place at that time, it would have been ‘horrendous’ for her.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.

Linda Robson almost broke social distancing rules during today’s Loose Women until Ruth Langsford managed to intervene.

During the latest instalment, Jane Moore dared to cut her own fringe – mirror in one hand, scissors in the other.

And, actually, it turned out ok.

However, as Jane struggled to get the mirror in the right position, Linda offered a helping hand.

‘Do you want me to hold the mirror for you?’ she asked, momentarily forgetting we’re in a pandemic and everyone in the UK needs to keep two metres apart from anyone not in their household.

Ruth stepped in and warned: ‘No you’re not allowed to stand near her, Linda.’

‘We must start drinking in bars!’ Janet Street-Porter divides Loose Women viewers with lockdown rant

Janet Street-Porter insisted we must start venturing outdoors and reopening pubs and restaurants as soon as possible, despite the UK remaining in lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic.

The 73-year-old joined Loose Women via a Zoom call today where she slammed government advice for over 70s to stay at home.

Today’s panel – consisting of Ruth Langsford, Stacey Solomon and Jane Moore – opened up about their anxiety over reports Boris Johnson will be easing lockdown measures from Monday while 75 percent of the public want the lockdown to continue.

Stacey admitted she’s only left the house four times in seven weeks and is afraid to go near anyone outside of her household.

Janet, however, vented it’s time to open the pubs, bars, and restaurants before the country goes bust, claiming people need to ‘get this in proportion’.

‘You have to go out and maintain social distancing, you have to go out and wear a mask if it makes you feel better, you have to go to and be careful and be considerate, especially considerate to hyper fearful people like Stacey,’ she began.

‘But we must start to go back out, we must start going out to eat and drinking in bars and going to supermarkets everyday – and we have to otherwise the economy has had it.’

As Ruth reminded viewers the government advice is for over ’70s stay at home for longer and the rest of us to stay at home’, Janet sighed: ‘Ugh.’

Loose Women viewers weren’t so sure.

‘Janet Street-Porter telling us it’s an individual’s responsibility whether they go back to work or not because *the economy* is more important. Do *not* give health advice you have no expertise or authority of,’ slammed one audience member.

Another agreed: ‘Janet Street-Porter is dangerous and shouldn’t be giving that kind of advice on Loose Women ahead of the Government announcements!’

Although, there were some who thought Janet was ‘talking sense’.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.

Nadia Sawalha launches ‘furious’ rant at Boris Johnson’s lockdown plan on Loose Women

Nadia Sawalha launched a ‘furious’ rant about Boris Johnson’s latest lockdown plan on Loose Women.

Monday’s instalment of the ITV chat show saw the panel discussing the most recent government guidelines which were announced by the Prime Minister on Sunday night.

Johnson appeared in a news special to address the nation and give an update on the latest plans in place for lockdown during the pandemic over the coming months.

Although, the Prime Minister’s speech left many people feeling more confused and uncertain than ever.

Speaking about the guidelines Nadia said told her pals that she was ‘furious’ over the fact that you can meet one friend in a park as long as you ‘stay two metres’ away but you can’t sit in a family member’s garden.

‘I think this is at the forefront of people’s minds,’ she began.

Nadia was left just as confused about Boris Johnson’s speech as we were (Picture: ITV)

‘And to see my 17-year-old with no hope of seeing her boyfriend, he could have paid some mind to that.

She added: ‘For me, it was very much a speech about the economy.

‘What I wanted to hear is when are we going to test, trace, isolate? Look at the countries that are succeeding the virus, until we are doing that we haven’t worked out the puzzle of the virus.

‘I mean everyone in this room could be asymptomatic until we are testing and he didn’t tell us anything about it.

‘He told us what we could do but he didn’t tell us what he was going to do and I am furious to be quite honest.’

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
